In Person (2019)

“What if a piece of art is so delicate that it cannot be seen from a distance?”

‘In Person I, II, III’, Gabriele Gutwirth

“Three times me life-size on paper.”

Conscious Poems (2018)

Artists Draw Their Studios, ‘The Poem of Process’, G. Gutwirth

The Poem of Process

Wherever I go, wherever I am.
An emotion. A feeling. A reaction. Subconsciously.
Then this thought in my brain.
Everywhere. In each cell of my body.

The Poem of Faith

Sometimes I don’t know.

Is it the end or the beginning?

Aren’t they the same?

What if we stop thinking?

What would we be?

I guess we would be free.

The Poem of Appreciation

What makes the difference?

What makes it meaningful?

What makes it precious?

My foundation.

My connection.

I myself. Can’t hide my smile.

The Poem of Serenity

Aware of every thought and deed.
Automatically. Intuitively.
Down to earth.
No matter where. No matter what.
Independent and free.

Courage (2018)

‘Courage’ (diptych), Gabriele Gutwirth

“In contrast to Smart Expansion, Courage was the conscious decision to relieve myself where I blended the process of thinking into emotions.”

Smart Expansion (2017–2018)

‘Smart Expansion’ series, Gabriele Gutwirth
‘Smart Expansion’ series, detail, Gabriele Gutwirth

“If someone asked me why I create these delicate and complex drawings, I’d say each line is a thought.

Now one can imagine what that means: there were thousands of thoughts in mind.”

Connected (2016–2017)

‘Eden’ series, Gabriele Gutwirth

“The final pieces of the project Connected are the outcome of a multiple-step process. It consists of digital collages of ink drawings and photographs which I transferred to photopolymer intaglio plates, and then, manually printed on a traditional printmaking press.

Though every step would work as a separate creation, for the final printmaking result each stage is dependent on the other one. The project Connected unites and appreciates traditional crafts and modern digital technology.

For me, the process of making art is just as important as the result. It helps me to move forward—artistically and personally. The process provides the insights.”
